The Sunshine Coast community has been invited to have its
say on planning for the Sunshine Motorway/Emu Mountain Road between Pacific
Paradise and Noosa Heads.
This is an important opportunity for Coast cyclists to make their presence
known. Our aim is for the upgraded road to include both on- and off-road
cycle facilities and well-engineered transition (crossing, entry, exit,
roundabouts) points.
Registration of interest by as many INDIVIDUALS as possible will have
maximum impact. Cyclists who list their affiliation to a Club or
Organization will be lumped in together as one registrant.
A registration form and instructions can be found
here.
The home page for the Motorway Planning Study is
here.
The Suncoast Cycling Alliance is making great progress with the local
Council and with the Gympie office of Main Roads. Wide interest in this
Community Consultation will bolster our case for better Coastwide cycling
facilities. This is an extract from a Ministerial Press Release with the
venues of the project displays. Make yourself known at a staffed display!
The proposed option can be viewed at the following locations between July 21
and August 8.
Staffed displays:
Coolum Community Centre, Park Street, Coolum (meeting room) - Tuesday July
29 (12.30pm to 4.30pm) and Saturday August 2 (9am to 1pm)
Unstaffed displays:
Coolum Beach Library, Park Street, Coolum - Monday July 21 to Friday August
8
Sunshine Coast Regional Council (Tewantin office), 9 Pelican Street,
Tewantin - Monday July 21 to Friday August 8. |
